Ive never really had a problem with male collabs, but they seem to be being pushed harder than before for the EN branch. This seems to be a combination of both the EN girls themselves wanting to change the culture of Hololive from within, and new fans who just see vtubers as your usual streamers when vtubing has never been that.

Most of the complaints seem to be from fans who are actual long-time members or have been watching Hololive for more than 2 years, while most of the people who support these collabs are newer fans that largely congregate on Twitter and end up astroturfing the YouTube comment section to "own the incels." Shit like this always happens in practically every media when there is a controversy: the core fanbase will inevitably be pushed away because "they are no longer welcome", and the new fans who pushed for this acceptance will provide a short-term boost but will ultimately cause severe long-term damage. They will not become long-term fans, they will quickly trickle away because there is no one else to virtue signal to since the real fans already left.
