>>32358570>the average vtuber fanYou don't get the 'average vtuber fan'. The average vtuber fan doesn't get anything out of an indie vtuber. Because they're isolated and alone.
Why do you think the MCU blew up as hard as it did? Iron Man might have been considered good, but the following movies were middling. But people kept holding out because of the whole crossover prospect. "This is just the setup, it's going to be amazing later on when they meet!" You should have noticed how many normalfags identify themselves first as 'yeah I'm a hololive fan!" and then second "oh I mainly watch X". They aren't invested in the vtuber except as a vehicle for their perspective, they're invested in the idea of the ""shared universe"".
This is why Chilla's gets high viewership - because every other holo plays it, so by everyone comes to watch you and compare and contrast your reactions. This is why non-FOTM story games get shit viewership even though it should be a much more engaging journey you're taking with your favorite streamer - no connection to the rest. This is why collab beggars come out of the woodwork whenever any other vtuber or e-celeb is mentioned.
You know what will be their thoughts if they ever get randomly shuffled into watching a good indie? "Man she's pretty funny. What a waste there's no point in watching her."
