For example, supercar manufacturers like Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini could mass produce their flagship vehicles and sell them for a fraction of the cost that they tend to go for on markets, but they instead have them "hand-built" and keep their production to a relatively small amount (usually under 10,000). This in turn increases the desirability of the product and gives it an extra sense of prestige/cachet which further increases their perceived value. You could make mass produced supercars that could beat them on the numbers (Tesla, Nissan and others), but because the limited nature of the former, they will always be perceived as more valuable than the latter.
