it's actually depressingly common for two online friends who have had an excellent long-distance friendship up to that point to meet in person, have an awkward and uncomfortable time, and then return home to find the friendship pretty much dead. it happened to a lot of my friends, sadly - they met up with a long-distance friend or even partner, there was suddenly no more chemistry at all between them, and when they returned home they pretty much got ghosted by the other party. i had a friend once who was a fairly big youtuber, did a lot of videos with a bigger youtuber and started a relationship with them, they met up at a convention and did a bunch of vlogs in which you can see that the relationship died instantly as soon as they met in person. it was awful.

It's quite sad because it's true, they had really similar background (not in the same ballpark of music though) so I'm sure Kiara was really excited to be in japan with a genmate that she thought she could get along with. Guessing it just really came to a head after spending an entire trip with her, slowly getting irritated and letting it build up and then just exploding and having non of the forced cute grill tee tee shit anymore. Like Mori just didn't like Kiara much but tolerated her, the constant upbeat attitude got on her nerves and after the trip she was finally free and wasn't going to put up with anymore of that shit. Not a professional response at all and it really hurt the chickens feelings but I do understand how it feels to be around irritating people that constantly bug you and are upbeat when you just want to chill. Familiarity breeds contempt. Also, this is why the formula of "just hire random people and force then together" doesn't work. As anyone who's played games knows, party synergy is important. Weaker characters who complement and support stronger ones can often be more game breaking than just throwing together a party of character who all have the most attack power. Sometimes you need tanks and healers too.

The one thing Nijisanji did right was get people who can synergize with each other on stream, who're able to meet up for off collabs. Proximity and infrastructure are a huge buff when properly utilized, as Hololive JP showed. In contrast, their side branches lacked the same structural support, as well as the careless unga bunga approach to hiring that royally fucked JP0...except without the excuse that they didn't have an example of how to do it right.

I don't think she meant it like that but holy fuck back then I did feel really bad for Kiara. This might be projection but she just seems like the type of person who gets really attached to people and probably constantly feels like she cares about all her friends more than they care about her, and I can really relate to that. It seemed like despite takamori being forced as fuck she genuinely really cared about Mori, might have even had some kind of feelings for her while knowing she was straight and it wouldn't go anywhere, and probably didn't have many friends in Japan because of her circumstances at the time, so it must have really hurt when Mori seemed disinterested and constantly too caught up with her own shit to give Kiara the time of day. It physically hurt me when Mori didn't even watch her original song and lied about it and when she was needlessly rude in that Q&A. I think she realizes she fucked up too now but the damage is done.

She's the classic overly attached girlfriend.

Let me culturally it. Kiaras roommate was a cosplayer. Cosplayers have "friends" in the same way that models have "friends" or journalists have "friends". They constantly talk shit about each other behind each others backs in their various small circles and you drift from circle to circle over the years, usually with bridges being burnt in a spectacular bonfire of meltdowns. I can't count how often I've gone to a european convention only to have the first words I'm hearing from someone be "You're all shit, I'm leaving" - always spoken by crying cosplayers, never the same and never the same group of people.

That is the environment where Kiaras roommate spent many years in. Mori doesn’t have Narcissistic Personality Disorder. She’s not an autist. She’s not even a bad person. She just likes and admires people completely different from what you and I want to watch. She wanted to be people that I’ve spent a decade trying to ignore.
