And since they suck at communicating, they will assume you do too and will assume you are never telling them the truth either, so even if you're having a 1 on 1 conversation and you think you're opening your heart and she's opening hers, in her mind she's not really doing so. because people just don't do that in japan. they're never fully honest and it's just a fact you have to live with. they call it politeness but what it will feel like is they're lying to your face constantly
this is why most relationships between Japanese and foreigners fail. not to mention cheating is rampant in japan. it's normalized for one partner to just leave for days at a time with any reason, and if you ask "where did you go? who did you stay with?" it's bad, you're not supposed to ask. and even if your friends find out you are being cheated on, they won't tell you because it's considered bad to do that.
there's a ton of shit like this. way more than you realize
