People fall in love for book characters, story characters, political leaders, gods, and many other examples, studies were made and concluded that there is no pathology in it, it's natural for the human mind.
You don't need to receive anything back to love someone, you can just appreciate the person for what they are and what you can consume about them just fine, it's called platonic love.
another point is there is nothing different about being physically close to someone, you will never actualy be inside the other person mind even if you are 1 meter apart, the distance is always the same, the only difference for physical vs virtual relationships are body language and hormonal attraction (and those can lead to bad things like falling for people who treat you badly and abuse you in some cases)
I have no delusions about ever actually dating the person I love, all I want is to continue having this feeling and continue watching her like I always have and support her without feeling guilty about it.
