It is all speculative the value of a stock is based upon the speculative value of a company. So the value isn't realized also known as an unrealized gain/loss until a sale occurs also known as realized gains/losses this is why /biz/ and reddit say you only lose if you sell for a lose since it is kind of true. That 2.3B is the speculated total value of 100% of the stocks.
So what is a stock. Well a stock is ownership. When you purchase a stock you are purchasing a percentage of ownership of a company. So Anycolor has 2,572,800 total stocks there will be no more added or taken from the total outside certain events I will explain later. If you buy 1 share you own 1/2,572,800 of the company. This does matter because if a vote come around you will be asked to submit a vote now meaning you do have a say in the company and direction you are after all part owner. The more shares you hold the more votes you get. Get more shares your voice becomes more important because your stake is larger.
This all holds because for the most part the 2,572,800 total shares will remain unchanged. If people buy more shares it will increase share value. The only way(lol there are probably others but most companies never do them) stocks can get added or removed is through splits and reverse splits. Essentially they take all the stocks and split them based on a ratio usually this is done when the price gets to an obscene level of high or low valuation. So if they do a 1:2 split that 2,572,800 number will go to 5,145,600 this will cause value of stocks to decrease but on the flip side the number of shares you hold will double.
