>>33883935This is the answer. Most people against the male collabs would probably be fine with them as long as they were basically special occasion cross promotion events. I'm a turbo unicorn and I know I would be. Its the fact that the collabs are being weaponized by one portion of the fanbase against those who don't like them.
>>33884314> You can like whatever you want as entertainment. As long as you remain a functional person and your entertainment doesn’t sabotage that its not a huge issue. You have absolutely no right to tell people what is or is not healthy for them. I'll tell you right now there are anons I've talked to who's only positive interaction with women in their life has been from a vtuber. Guys who were really mistreated by their female relatives or bullied by girls when they were young and that left a deep wound or a number of other things that has made their oshi literally the only thing keeping them grounded to the idea that women aren't inherently evil creatures. Ofcourse that kind of person is going to have an emotional attachment to the vtuber. Ofcourse they are going to treat their interaction as something precious to them. That is the healthy response what's unhealthy is the circumstance they came out of.
If a person needs a crutch and you want to take their crutch away that makes you the bad guy not them.
Who do you think the guys becoming obsessed with anime waifu's were in the first place? Now you want to pretend like pretending to be an anime waifu live on the internet isn't going to attract that same kind of attention from the same kind of broken men?
It strikes me as negligent at best and borders on cruel to attack them.
> Falling in love with what is essentially a facade is wasted energy thoughBelieve it or not there are allot of people where that's the only place they can put their energy and send their affection. They're still humans, they want to love and even if it's a facade it's what they have to attach themselves to. There's a real human need there that they need to have filled and whaling on a vtuber allows them to feel like their efforts aren't going to waste. Can you imagine a life where the only time anyone has told you, in years, that they appreciate you is when you give an anime girl on youtube a $500 akasupa? You can think that's pathetic and it is but have a heart. Do you think that guy is going to give that up?
Are there people who have fucked up backgrounds and come out of it healthy, yes. There are also people who come out of it fucked up and allot of them, because of their damage, are never able to form the kinds of social networks that allow them to process and grow and become healthier.
I have such a bleeding heart for those people and I hate watching them get shit on because that's all they've had their whole lives. Nobody is going to go into their lives and stick by them and help build them up but people will demean and attack them for trying to just survive and have something and someone to think about other than themselves who they can try and help and support.
I get so worked up about it, fuck.
