>>33922262Honestly, it seems management really didn't expect "idol culture" to be a thing in the west, and while it's certainly arguable that "idol" in the west is not exactly the same as Japan would think of one, it's still very much prominent, and it caught management by surprise. They never even expected EN to be a success to begin with, and they have no idea why it became such a success. They didn't realize the whole idol thing was literally an untapped market in the west in this era where everything has to be woke and serve as a mouthpiece for a political agenda. They believed EN fans were only into hololive because of the clips, or because of the reddit dragon, but failed to realize the people who stick around for full streams, send superchats, and buy merch, are those who watch hololive content for the idol stuff. If people didn't like the idol aspect, there's about a hundred and one other vtubers and thousands of streamers out there. EN management never thought to themselves "what makes hololive unique?" and it doesn't seem they even properly survey the fans. It's like they just monitor the reddit filled with yesmen and Twitter to figure out how to run things, which figures why they're so scared to promote Gura despite her being their most popular talent; they think the loli drama will attract negative attention
