Now for the reason they changed it, it was most likely because of the Taiwan shit. They didn't want to give the chinese schizos reasons to make her a target for harassment.

Hers and Flare's original outfit had chinese influence. After the Chinkening those influences needed to be removed. Nene kept the flower representing Taiwan though.

The one thing I will say is that it was not Nene's will. Recently (before her 2 year), her chat reminded her that her 2 year badge was still her original design. She said that she's going to keep it, because management did not explicitly tell her she couldn't have it. And she mentioned that it's a good memento of that outfit, which was still dear to her.
