This shit happens all the time, a bunch of grifters who don’t know what they’re doing try to get the bag, people see that it’s hype, and then after the crash only people who actually like the technology bother with it until it becomes popular (and sustained by more than just hype) again.
If vtubing was just a fad, I wouldn’t have started watching Tempus from the male collabs, I would have just fucked off back to anime and Moistcritikal and Ludwig and other fleshtubers. Right now I watch them, Phase Connect, Tempus, AND the random clips that show up on my recommendeds.
Vtubing will be fine. HoloEN and NijiEN are going to go through a bit of a recline and a bunch of the current top people are going to start graduating in the next few years though, probably. But they’re going to do it because people stop giving a shit about them, so it won’t be that sad because none of us will notice.
