If you're speaking in terms of her behavior or content, there is no past to be stuck in, because she is who she is, and she was who she was. And that's important to protect.
She's said how afraid she is of changing for the worse, multiple times. I never want to stay quiet and end up letting her make a mistake she'll look back on with regret. That's worse than speaking out. If I speak out she might be shocked and get sad in the moment, but those problems can be fixed, so that pain is temporary. There's no way to fix what you regret.
I love her enough to prevent things that she would regret. Even if it means I have to tell her she's wrong sometimes.
