It has to do with the fact that shitters with vroids doing it "ironically" have been a plague on the community for years. Early /wvt/ was very welcoming to males actually but it was the males themselves who made that attitude change.
I think all new debuting chuubas would benefit from doing some archive reps as to not to commit the same mistakes the previous gens did.
The reason why your local boogieman, the "viewercord", shits so hard on males is because most of them were there from the start.

I never really streamed seriously before this year i usually put up streams for friends or just fiddling with the technology. which is why i started vtubing, after watching hatoba tsugu I wanted a live environment with that sort of aesthetic. i love learning more about 3D modeling, getting into 3D world building and all that jazz. I am straight but I've always found watching females (vtubers or otherwise) kind of uncomfortable. Like I'm being manipulated by their flirting and looks into supporting them. I always second guess whether or not I genuinely enjoy them or if it's just because they are female I am sure I am in the minority, but I find I am better able to relax and enjoy a streamer without this extra sexual tension going on.
