I get that twitch has a lot of issues, but one criticism i never understood was the lack of members only streams (The feature exists but is seldom used), why do you want paywalled content? I thought /vt/ hated when chuubas are money hungry whores

I hate paywalls myself, including member streams, but in our fandom a lot of people pursuits attention from their chuubas and P2W is seemed like a fair strategy to do so, and member streams have reduced audience which increases chances for attention.

I thought about that argument after posting, but at the scale of Nijis and Holos it makes no sense, someone like Finana or Mori still has enough members for the chat of a members only stream to be unusable, similarly, if let's say, Silvervale were to do a subscriber only stream, chat would also still be unusable. That argument mostly makes sense for the bottom 50% of 3views, the only 3views on youtube tend to be small corpos, and the people crying about the lack of subscriber only streams on twitch tend to be holobronies

It is all about the superchats and the post stream interactions, while for the chuuba itself the chat moves slower so they actually picks up some random comments to fuel zatsu or any other content. Basically any money spent during a member stream is more powerful, and even for the lower spenders they have a higher chance to get noticed, either in stream itself or Twitter.

It is not very fun when you are in the other side of the pool, though, but the people that wants member streams wants more value of their subs.

I kind of understand both sides. greennames absolutely deserve some sort of compensation and worth to the money they're giving to their chuuba(s). On the other hand, I can understand why greynames would be up in arms. This sort of thing can make a "haves versus the have-nots" type situation, especially if greynames stay grey for reasons like they can't afford the membership, shit like that.
It's kind of a sad debate with no real winner.

Because it's more of a safe space with those that usually have more attachment to the chuuba than the regular viewers so they tend to open up more towards those compared to how they present themselves to the general public. Some members streams are amazing and I wouldn't want to miss them, but they wouldn't exist without the paywall filter to get rid of (a huge portion of) the undesirables.
