The only difference is that they are practical animals that are allowed to be kept and trained.
The law itself depends on the legalist interpretation school.
For some schools like in East Africa and Malaysia, dogs are not pets and are only for practicality such as security and hunting.
For some schools like in Indonesia and some parts of the Middle East, certain breeds of dogs are allowed to be kept indoors (like the saluki).
>>34731399>>34730837>>34730745Indonesia's Islam is extremely syncretised. They still retain elements of paganistic and Hindu-Buddhist elements. Ancestor worship, talismans, etc
Indonesia's Java-oriented culture also means that non-muslim native religions like Kejawen are still practiced. Resulting in people who are Muslim in name but Kejawen/Hindu in belief.
Some cultures like the Bugis still maintain paganistic traditions such as androgyny and ritualistic gender change.
Despite being the most populated muslim country, Indonesia's version of Islam is watered down. The only practitioners of pure legalist, by-the-book Islam in Indonesia are those in moderately/less populated regions far away from Javanese island chains such as Aceh, Riau, Borneo, and some parts of Sulawesi. Other non-Indonesian examples of purist Islam in SEA are Brunei and Malaysia.
