>>3476179Probably personal preference, but I don't like the Eyelash change, it creates more complexity that distracts from her eyes, which should have priority over other facial features, they're distracting while up close and they look wonky from a distance.
While the seams look cute and make sense, they detract from the design because it's segmenting the shirt(?), which is already being segmented by the dress' straps, it makes it look clunkier in a sense. The hems are ok, they look nice up close and they make the sleeves' outlines more noticeable from a distance, I prefer them over the anecdotal shark mouth of the og design.
Shifting the dress' buckles is fine, I don't wear dresses or clothes like that so I don't know if either take is more accurate, making the straps even seems like a negative change from my view, it takes away from the design's playfulness and makes it less interesting visually, it also makes it harder to see the fishbones pin since it blends in with the rest of the clothing due to nothing attracting your eye towards that part of the model.
Making the dress narrower/more form fitting is also a change I don't dig, it makes it feel more like it was painted onto Gura rather than it being a piece of clothing on top of her.
Adding a 4th button to the skirt makes sense, but it makes things kind of monotonous when you have 4 buttons both on the top and the bottom part of the dress, it also competes for attention with the shark teeth, so I think it's a matter of "Do I want this to look realistic but weirder, or do I want it to be slightly less believable but nicer?".
Removing the red from the skirt is a big no in my eyes, not only does getting rid of it make the outfit more visually boring and plain, it also takes away from the character's theme, do an experiment, cover the tail with your hand and tell me, does anything about the outfit remind you of a shark? while I'm not the biggest fan of the original's red bit (it could've been done better I think) it's presence makes sense, it manages to communicate part of the character's theme while making the piece more interesting to look at while not hogging too much space.
Overall, I'd say there's good ideas in the edit, but some parts of it should be reconsidered and some of the issues of the original should be worked with instead of simply deleting them. It misses part of the designs intentions for the sake of looking more believable or "correct"
