Being at the mercy of shareholders and the whims of the freemarket often goes in unwanted (for you the consumer) directions.
Maybe some minor yab that was swept under the rug for a private company now needs some firings.
Maybe some incompetent management, newly hired by the direction board, tries to stop losses (and losses can just mean not increasing the amount of total profit compared to last year) by re-estructurations, cuts of cool programs by the company, and reduction of quality in others.
Maybe they stop caring so much about the workplace rights of some of the chuubas.
Maybe you start being forced out since they now want to appeal only to the normies audience
Basically, imagine every single soulless peak consoomerism thing COVER already does and multiply it.
Of course, with some luck things can go right but I have seen this happen to many other corporations already.
