The problem with AI art isn't some Patreon grifter being out of a job, but rather that 99% of artists since the Internet was invented definitely didn't upload their art to the free web so some Jew could scrape them, shove them into a model, and rent-seek on his GPU investment via AI models.

New technology always disrupts existing businesses and more often than not, artisans are the ones suffering the most.
How many families are still called Smith, Cobbler, Turner, and so on? Those jobs are long gone. We are supposedly better off for it overall (even though a lot of people fantasize of isekai where those jobs are still there) but the artisans who lost their job almost overnight sure had a hard time.
This stuff is here to stay and your oshi's attitude is also correct. Respecting the artists but still allowing herself to play with the technology is the right thing to do.

PS. think about it like this: we will soon get 200-episode anime series again, like in the old times, because only the lead artists and directors (and seiyuu etc.) will be required to produce a series. A bunch of hardware running AI will replace the army of exploited animators who are currently painstakingly drawing every single frame of every episode and are in ever shrinking supply.

The only artfags who will "lose their jobs" with AI art hype are the ones with very generic/copied art style shared with other pin-up artists anyway. Artists with very notable / recognizable art styles (namie, ryota-h, LAM, mika pikazo, or the guys at Onmyouji studio) will continue bagging commissions because companies are willing to pay thousands-to-millions for branded names or quality work. Commissioners from fiver who undersells their art for 5 bucks a piece are better off jobless since they bargain bin their own art anyway. The only solution is literally just get good

Actually seeiyu/VA AI will be available for public use next year, and who knows how long directors got until an AI equivalent appears

99% Ai art doesn't look that good because they have a uncanny look to it. Time will tell on how good it can get. I can see it affecting mid tier to shit artists that aren't good enough, people who practice forever and never improve or people with a generic art style

The problem with that kind of thinking is, once you become mid tier you should have a chance at scraping by using your art. The mid level of skill is when artists can really start to focus on their art because they finally receive enough support to quit their real jobs. AI art will produce less pro artists in the end, which is a shame, because most humans on earth feel really good when they create something.

The gist is that to do it yourself you need a powerful computer with a modern GPU with a lot of vram, and then you run an open source program called stable diffusion. Your results will depend on the model you use. With most models you won't need to train them, you just download them, plug them into stable diffusion, and let er rip. The model used by NovelAI actually got leaked and there was a magnet link floating around a while ago. It was about 52 gigabytes in size.

Yeah, there's a lot of websites that do image generation now, but I personally don't trust them to not fuck up the prompt on their end. For example, a while back it was found that if you gave one a prompt such as "A woman holding a sign that says" you'd get a bunch of pictures of women holding signs with the word "black" on them, because the website was injecting extra things into the prompt. There are also more specialized models available, like Waifu Diffusion, which is trained on images from Danbooru.

For CUSTOM art that you can get within minutes by inputting the right words, it's phenomenal. Sure it's not perfect, but it's still better than 90% of human artists and only getting better. If I can get stuff like this in a minute just by typing a description, it's good enough for me.

When you see those anime-like images they are most likely than not from novelai which you use from your browser but you gotta pay
I know you can use img2img but I don't think it's a requirement, >>>/vt/vtai can help you better, probably >>>/g/sd and >>>/vg/aids too but I havent check on either since novelai came out so not sure if they splited
