The main reason I think most people who try to do things like this is that if you are going to do long-form educational content you have to have knowledge on your chosen topic that goes deeper than surface level. I can't tell you how many documentaries I cannot watch because I get 30 minutes in and realize that not only am I not going to learn anything I'm going to encounter information I disagree with and get angry at because most educational content isn't designed to be consumed by anyone with more than introductory level familiarity with a subject.
If a Vtuber had the steel balls to read and interact with primary source and academic literature on stream they'd have my support without question, even if they had shit takes, it'd prove they were willing to put more thought and effort into understanding things than most people ever do in their lives.
