>>3535888Yeah I noticed when doing King that it had absolutely fucking 0 sub and 0 bass in it. It was all mids and highs. All the synths and shit were right in the vocal range. And the whole thing might as well have been in mono. Japanese can't even into stereo, that's how far behind jp producers are. I was using reference 4 to check everything too.
>they literally do not have the software needed to create proper autotuningThey definitely have something like antares or melodyne, you can hear it in the background of Rikka's parts, and his extremely heavily autotuned parts are most likely some preset. I haven't actually used antares much, I just use it for sound design, but that's what I'm hearing.
>>3536219It just depends on what your ears are used to. I could never afford monitors so I got used to mixing on headphones and it works pretty good, especially with the sonarworks stuff.
I say that based on a mastering engineer for a label I was working with saying my mix didn't need much work done to it, so I don't think I'm talking out my ass here, but I might be. I do wish I had some nice monitors though, or a sub pac, that would be cool. And yeah, melodyne has a jp translation, so that could be what they're using. Melodyne is all done manually, right? I know antares works in real time. It sounds like certain parts have real time correction and other parts are bounced from melodyne or something.
