To save up on make up? To not worry about how you look that day in front of a camera? To not worry about how fucking ugly you are all the time in front of a camera? That's probably the ironic weeb/normalfag that jumped the bandwagon mindset, when you put your avatar on you're giving that character life and the history of that character is what matters, every action that character takes alongside it's respective companions adds to it's lore, watching some random chuba be herself and playing a random game doesn't sound as appealing as the ultimate rabbit villian making a final stand off against every single anime girl in an island, or the idol anime girl that you have been watching since long ago is finally having her idol concert, or the anime girl that you have been supporting is going to give you a mimikaki/wash your head ASMR, or this pink fox girl is beating all mario games from scratch while barely sleeping FUCKING WORRY ABOUT HER NOW, or this angel lost her dragon lover and now she's tryin to squeeze love out of you, is just a different experience than watching some dude playing shit or some whore licking a dummy doll's head or any gender reacting to random clips or news.
