This is clearly a work where MG is willing to take the fall and be the bad guy, since people already hate them anyway.
Makoto and Akira are just being in-character when they say they want to keep streaming as vtubers, but the reality is that now that the pandemic is more or less over and restrictions are being lifted everywhere, their roommates are now free to go around and perform again in venues live as themselves.
Either that, or they both became pregnant and want to take a long-ish break.
