I don't really see the point, especially when it's like only 2 or 3 comments at a time and the chat is moving way too fast to read anything.
It does make for some funny screengrabs sometimes like that one with the graynames complaining about Kiara talking about food instead of playing Elden Ring.

Some of the viewers are very vain, they want some guarantee for their name to appear in vods if no shout out were made. Especially nowadays where chat replays are often turned off because of the occasional bot spams

Some of them make it so tiny and so few lines showing that there's no point. Fauna's is perfect, shows everything clearly without being in the way, and chat scrolls slow enough to be able to read it most of the time.

I know this place likes to be contrarians but I personally like having it up, as it adds to the experience. Most of the time I have streams on background while I work, but when I do get to actually watch streams, like on my rest days, it makes me feel less alone in this decently sized house of mine. Some people in chat could be quite annoying sometimes, but overall, it's fun as for me, I don't really send any.
I console myself by saying this is better than thinking that the streamer is my girlfriend or gatekeeping people from posting whatever they want. I am aware that I still am a loser though.

I prefer it the youtube way than the old scrolling NND/billi way for sure, and not having it on screen doesn't matter much, the vtuber will still read it and allow them to degrade the quality of the stream anyway so better its in a neat little box on the side instead of covering the whole fucking screen
