Tekken gets a special mention because it is truly a 3D fightan, and works very different to 2D fightan. Tekken is also more fundamentally different than most anime fighters too. Tekken has more of risk reward type gameplay, while anime fighters are geared towards perfecting your combo inputs for punish so you see flashy moves.
Tekken was dominated by Koreans and Japan, asian players in general, until some random Pakistan dude clapped them all and won both Evo championship the same year. The game has some potential fun upsets.
Smash is irrelevant, its popular but not tryhardy (despite the audience try to convince you otherwise). It's like a popular BR against more grounded FPS.
Problem with FGC is that most streamers prefer to lab all day, and nobody wants to watch that shit. Except for Tekken and SFV, where people need to fight other players to actually get better. Tourney is where the fun is.
