Even if Astel says he wants to see it, in the eyes of fans letting the talent see your self-indulgent AU is probably embarrassing, or there's the concern it's not something the talent wants to see. I think it's a culture that carries over from anime and manga franchises, fans tend to avoid putting stuff that isn't "official" (ie derivative works) under the official tags.
Kind of related but I've always been curious what StarsJP and their fans think when they see the kind of fanart Tempus retweet sometimes. A lot of it is stuff StarsJP fans would never dare to tag.
