I think trying to get everyone to an even playing field would inherently work better than almost, nerfing and buffing races.
I do think diversity is good though. But I'd like to see it in the way of natural ways and also not focused on.
As in, hey there is an Asian character in this show, but there is zero focus on him/her being Asian, they just are because they are.
What it ends up being more often than not is that they are very Asian, not American, and/or their Asian background is used for a plot where it paints Asian culture in a bad light.
