The only time this really happens is when they can't get support for their old one from the rigger, artist, ect. Hopefully the new one is as good but looking at history every change is a downgrade most of the time.

The robot only works because of the t2s gimmick. It actually fits better than the robot voiced translator dragon speak bullshit they tried that made very little sense in context. The spic has no excuses though, she's just rich and comms new vastly different models on a whim like a housewife buys shoes.
