It's lame because there hasn't really been much chosen one bullshit in One Piece up to this point and there was an appeal was having a kind of dumb power like turning into rubber be shown as something really cool and powerful.
The fight was cool and funny but the implications of the gum-gum fruit actually secretly being the mystical god type chosen one fruit kinda runs counter to One Piece's core themes and identity.

More specifically I mean Luffy's entire character is making his own path and destiny despite whatever rules or obstacles or in his way. Having him actually be some figure of prophecy following this pre-destined journey is a huge misstep that runs completely counter to the type of character he is and what he stands for.

I don’t like it because it makes Luffy look like ultra instinct goku. There were fan colors that actually made Luffy black and white like a manga character but oda just decided to make his hair and clothes white and made his eyes red? Overall a very good moment in time skip one piece but god damn I hate the canon color pallette.

He's still the same Luffy from episode 1, nothing changed.
Having a god fruit makes sense.
The past Joy Boy lost to the world government 800 years back, only way to wreck them now is for Luffy to take on Joy Boy's will.
Luffy can't be free if the world government exists do he will need to destroy it.

Some months ago I read Kingdom and I think it's even slower than One Piece
Like the goal of the hero is to conquer the 7 kingdom of China, there is more than 730 chapters and we are still at 0 and it's been 230 chapters they try to conquer 1 kingdom

the punk hazard arc is mostly skipable but it introduces 1 character that is going to be really important later on, i think you could read a resume of it online and wont lose much, and i would say the same about the fish man island arc, where the only reason of it is to showcase the new powers the crew got after the time skip training, i recomend read a resume and then read last 5 or so chaps of it at least, so you get introduced to a another important character
