>>36373567While I can’t argue she isn’t responsible for making her own bed here, I do think the un-charitable attitude towards her situation comes from the fact that it’s something she can fix easily. The other side first talked about doing this sort of Reaper Business when Mori thought her hellish work schedule would clear up by the summer. When you look at what we know about the arrangement, it’d be naive to assume there’s not a contract involved, contractual obligations and deadlines included. The UMG deal was described as being dropped in her lap and Mori had a hard time believing it was real, it’d be dumb not take it as a musician, but it extended her hellish work schedule until the end of the year, with it’s own obligations and deadlines. The other obligation she has which she can be entirely flexible with to maybe make things more manageble is her streaming, however whenever she cuts that back, she ends up feeling guilty about leaving fans without content, bad actors spin wild narratives, and bitter fans that don’t like the other side at all join in on those narratives. She definitely put herself between a rock and a hard place here.
However, hindsight is 20/20, and I really don’t think it’s worth holding against her like some anons here do. It’s just a situation where I hope present Mori doesn’t screw future Mori like past Mori screwed present Mori.
