I guess his membership exclusive aruranverse project was supposed to be the foreshadowing for the change, to make fans come to accept the idea of there being multiple arurans and that while he looks bit different everywhere, he is still at the core the same aruran. Yet he kept that stuff to his highest membership tier, and if it really was meant to be the content that cushioned the upcoming change, he did a piss poor job at that because some fans did end up downgrading their menshis because of being upset.
Personally? I believe if he still had facial hair arunii would be easier to come around to.
