>>3653482Israel was memed into existence by the british after WW2 under the assumption that the best way to avoid getting the jews holocausted again was to give them a sovereign state and autonomy. This displaced the Palestinians, a muslim people that britain had formerly colonized. Islam in general HATES the jews for religious reasons and would love nothing more than another holocaust, but they extra, extra hate Israel because Jerusalem is their holy city and they don't want to share. Supported by the rest of the muslim world, the Palestinians refuse to relocate and have just squatted on the border of Israel for decades, refusing to acknowledge Israel's sovereignty and serving as a pretense for the rest of the muslim world, most specifically Iran and the OPEC countries, to be constantly belligerent. Israel can't let these people in because they don't want in, they just want to kill all the jews and live in their corpsefields. And for the most part the Palestinians are just being used by other middle eastern powers that aren't strong enough to actually challenge Israel's military (despite trying and failing literally dozens of times).
Because the US supports Israel and its military financially, Israel's existence is one of the main driving factors of the US industrial complex. American political entities that are isolationist, anti-military, anti-big business or anti-establishment all hate Israel, but since nobody pays attention to their usual "war bad" rhetoric, they try to get at the bleeding heart left by crying over muh Palestine instead. But the constant overbearing threat of warfare in Israel has led the country down a dark and increasingly radical path where escalating conflict has become a way to deflect criticism from an unpopular regime and the current spat is undoing about 15 years of progress in the conflict that was only made possible because of billions wasted in NATO troop presence in the middle east following the 2nd gulf war.
Whether creating Israel was a good idea is a contentious topic but the fact of the matter is that the Palestinians were nomads prior to the formation of Israel, and only care about Israel's existence because it's an insult to Islam that their holy city is in the hands of the jews. The reason Israel exists is to give the jewish people the means to defend themselves from genocide and their conflict with both the Palestinians and the rest of their neighbors stems from every Imam in the middle east calling for genocide against the jews for about 60 years at this point. Most of the discourse on mainstream platforms comes from people that neither know the history of the conflict nor the details of the Treaty of Westphalia and why it's pertinent and are just virtue signaling for whichever side is vogue this week.
