>>36928185ch dug up the actors' personal accounts, one of them had accusations against the company for labor exploitation (forced to work long hours, dubious pay, abuse/harassment).
This leaks to Twitter, where it reaches #2 most popular trending topic in the world, full of people bashing Unlimited (their management corp, now renamed to Brave Group to escape former humiliation).
Unlimited, seeing the huge wave of flames in front of them, stop all activities and halt any tweets from the VTubers' accounts.
On Bilibili, the person responsible for their Bilibili account posts saying that "Game Club Project will not disband so easily, don't believe any rumors" etc. This fans the flames some more, before eventually an official statement is made.
The official statement reeks of "sorry we were caught", and promises of "changing how we manage the voice actors". The "voice actors" part is important, because eventually they will go on to claim later down the road that they were never VTubers at all (even though they were always considered such by the community), but instead "CTubers" (Character Tubers).
Then there is a moment of calm, a few weeks pass by (if I remember right), and suddenly Miria has a new "voice actress". Then the dark haired guy gets replaced. At this point the flames rage once more; all of the videos released get dislike bombed by angry fans, and the channel gets unsubbed in droves.
It is at this point that Unlimited release a long statement about how Game Club Project was founded, and that they were never VTubers but rather "CTubers".
All of them end up replaced eventually, the company renames itself, and in perhaps the most ironic turn of events, eventually turns the new voice actors (with the reused characters) into proper VTubers while abandoning the primary channel that was being targeted by fans-turned-anti in favor of new channels for each talent.
Eventually, all of the new actors (along with the characters, finally) retire except Miria's new voice actress, who is still using Miria's recycled corpse as an indie. Cocoa's new voice actress also still uses her recycled corpse in a VSinger group (I think anyway, didn't keep up with her after the drama).
There was more to it but yeah, typing this has been long enough as it is. My memory is hazy on the small stuff anyway.
