I see a lot of vtubers feeling forced to fake a high pitched voice when their normal lower voices sound just fine, why is that?

Playing a character is goated and many people may like it, but generally EN markets don't care or are even offput by fake, high pitch voices.

It's much worse in Japan though, because fans prefer the cutesy voice.
Fucking Matsuri still wont use her regular deep voice, Flare, Okayu and Towa got higher in time because it's normal and cutesy. Pochi even used a voice changer.
I hate it.

Voice, now this a touchy topic.
Basically yes. most high pitched voice chuubas are acting. The ones that do this, want to act as certain anime stereotype with a few of their personal touches to craft a cool OC. This is like more than half of the fun in being a vtuber instead of a regular streamer. Please also note that most girls also have a rather high pitched
natural voice, so most girls doing deep voice are probably acting too (easiest example of this would be Erina Makina from Phase Connect).
What's amusing are the reactions you get when you call out vtubers on it. You get the obvious denial: "this is my actual voice, what do you mean???", the bargaining VA types go for: "Actually this is one of my voices, and all of them are real".
In my opinion, (You) as a viewer should care about none of these things and just laugh at vtubers when they fuck up their acting. Caring about if a vtuber's voice is genuine or not is insensitive and autistic, vtubers are acting to provide entertainment and you are criticizing the whole foundation of it. You can criticize voices for being awful on their own though. Because holy shit, Kiara's voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

While I deeper sounding voices myself, insisting all vtubers should use their "real voice" and insisting all vtubers should have higher pitched voices are both obnoxious as fuck, especially if you comment about it right in front of a vtuber's face. "Voice reveal" is zoomer shit and the people who imply all anime is moeshit and that all possible anime archetypes are moe stereotypes are fucking retarded. There is no reason to constrict a medium that is DESIGNED to be flexible and has room for deviation and experimentation. If some of those vtubers are not your cup of tea, then go watch someone else that actually caters to you instead of forcing their content to cater exclusively to you.
I doubt Pochi would've dropped her voice changer if EN viewers didn't join the hobby and had more forgivable tastes in deeper voices.

People often say that women in Asia tend to pitch up their voices, but the opposite is true in the west. Women here tend to pitch down their voices for various reasons. For this reason many women find it quite easy to make their voice higher than they usualy do. It might be higher than their usual voice but it is usually within their natural range.

It's so weird since Okayu's old, deeper voice is 10x better than whatever the fuck she's doing now and for all the fuss Suisei made about having to speak in a lower tone, it sounds 1. not that much lower and 2. better than it used to. That's not acting. It's just called being engaging and not sounding like a dull retard. The vast majority of chuubas do not "put on" a voice because you just can't do that for several hours straight. All they do is sound excited because that's what you do to make the content engaging.

As always this argument is deeply retarded and full of idiots so ill once more explain how this works. Human voices aren't just one specific pitch/tone and thats it. Peoples voices naturally sit somewhere within a gradient. Basically everyone has a certain range to their natural voice that their voice sits within. When doing your own thing or just by yourself/at home people naturally talk much more monotone and flat/dull. This is a problem a ton of streamers have to deal with starting out and even big fucking streamers have gone into detail on how they had to get used to dealing with that.

Vtubers (for the vast majority anyways there are outliers obviously) "fake" their voices in the same sense that all streamers do. They talk slightly more energetic than they would usually. Everybody changes their voice slightly depending on the situation. The truth of the matter is voices aren't so one note and binary as to be simply "deep" or "high pitched". Its much more complex than that. The voice you hear from most vtubers are in general their actual voices. Just more fun or energetic like all streamers do.
