DLsite (starting doing your RJ code reps) for the real high quality or niche fetish stuff, or plenty of fleshtubers doing better on youtube even. However....even after terabytes spent storing ASMR tracks covering just about every plot, character archetype and fetish you can imagine, I still find myself coming back to vtubers for ASMR.
Perhaps it's just that rare to get english ASMR that isn't full cringe (fauna/shondo/peony yandere is great), but also perhaps there's more to the story: with all the characterization, personal history, community, and stories outside of the sphere that gives it that extra parasocial touch. Let's be real, fauna's actual ASMR skills aren't the highest quality/most creative even with the KU100, but she's our oshi, so it doesn't matter. It's like how we listen to her sing (badly) anyways since it's cute, even though we could listen to objectively better singers.
To be fair, in the end vtubers and twitch thots are all just different flavors of the same exploititative parasocial structure, but we just like our weeb version better than the gamer version. Is a T3 sub to your favorite vtuber (who likely has a bf, do your reps) that much "better" than simping for your average poki/amouranth/alinity?
At least we can rrat that our oshis are prettier than those ugly 3dpds....but also the level of delusion of "i love my oshi as a character, and idc what the VA/roommate behind her does in her spare time" is a level of copium that I can't fathom.
