It can only draw in viewers in a timeslot, which facilitates spending money through other avenues. ie. games, cards, merch, etc. Obviously the exception would be if Nintendo and TPCi only made the show available through a proprietary streaming service, which honestly at this point with how many bad decisions Nintendo, GameFreak, and TPCi are making, I wouldn't be surprised if that eventually happens.
