If nobody contests liars and slanderers with the truth of a situation, the lie is left free to fester and grow. It's never late to clear someone's name.
Basically, if you can accurately call someone out on their bullshit, you'll cut off their "arguments" and they'll either shut up and leave, or devolve into tripe retardation that can clearly be pointed out as such, and then you get to point and laugh at them for having just admitted they're wrong.
