they are fucking horrible to use in playthroughs, having super common weaknesses with fighting and bug and since gen 6 even fucking fairy while only hitting psychic and ghost very effectively which are very rare types to encounter, taking any other type who has teeth and can use crunch is superior to wasting a slot on a dark type
and even in competitive they were only ever useful for exactly pursuit and knock-off and they went and removed one of those moves
