The effect of the Hololive-Azur Lane collab cannot be understated. It jumpstarted Hololive from some barely nobody vtuber group to the top. While it may not give Nijisanji 1 to 1 success, it would still give them a considerable fraction.
If you want to make it big in the overseas anime industry, targeting the gachafags is one of your, if not your best option. They are the most autistic yet social fans around. Their power to spread shit through word of mouth, "memes", and social media is phenomenal. Making these fags see your chuubas daily in their gachas is a solid way to imprint your product in their minds, and in their networks, as Hololive did.
Considering that their ties to Ch*n* is rather firm, they are not out of options to choose from. I'd imagine it'd be much easier and much cheaper to collab with these chink companies than Jap/Gook ones. Yet the fact that they haven't yet done so, when Hololive's collab was shown to be a huge success MORE THAN A YEAR AGO, is a telltale sign that this EN "expansion" really is nothing more than a knee jerk, FOMO reaction from complacent Niji.
