People are constantly going "OH NYO HOLOEN IS DED DED DED LOOK AT NUMBERS" but they don't realise these girls are still pulling in a single stream (after jewtube and cover cuts) more than most people earn in a week.
They're basically cruising in the upper middle class income bracket with minimal effort.
So they won't die any time soon.
Overall though one reason for their reduced numbers is that the market for them simply doesn't function in the same way it does in Japan.
Cover is putting out variety entertainers who can be monetised in numerous ways. Their income from the JP girls mainly comes from product endorsements, TV appearances, merchandising and so on. They're celebrities over there.
But you can't really do that in the English world, the entertainment market is too big and animoe too niche. Barely anyone is gonna pay for Gura to appear in an ad or on a show. And the only ones who would aren't likely to be prepared to pay what Cover would demand.
Plus in most of the world variety entertainers are pretty rare so people don't understand them as a concept. You see this with the EN branch on a regular basis where most of them don't really get why Cover pushes them to do certain things and instead have a laser focus on one or two things.
Mori is obsessed with her music career. Putting zero effort into anything else without someone prodding her in the back.
Gura is basically the same but all she's really willing to do is play vidya or do some singing.
Ame and Kiara are the only ones who seem to "get it" but theres not a big market for that in the wider global market.
As for the rest? Not worth going that deep into the roster.
If things get really bad I could expect Cover to try and encourage some of the EN branch to migrate to Japan or pivot more towards the JP market. Mainly the ones who they feel can do the variety performer thing and have a sufficient proficiency in Japanese.
But I don't expect that to happen any time soon.
For the most part, people in the west these days want simple entertainers who do one thing and one thing only.
They don't want variety or complexity.
This is why Hollywood was able to develop a formulae for successful cinema. People in their core markets are that predictable. Said formulae includes lots of explosions and car chases.
