>>3801234I remember that clip being passed around in the doomposting threads in the runup before HoloEN even debuted, so it must be even older than that. Anyways, I don't want to go over the issues she raised again, there's already been enough point-for-point rebuttals made by other anons, so we'd only be retreading grounds everyone here knows. Let's just say, as some suggested, that if you go by the most charitable benefit-of-doubt interpretation, you can chalk it up to her being simply just misinformed at that time (or like
>>3801619 suggested, influenced by the twitch chink shittalking hololive? though I'd have to recheck if the timelines match up) and now hopefully being more educated about the company whose talent she's so eager to leech off of.
>>3801449While I agree in principle (that Veibae should admit she was wrong), I can't see this getting adressed publicly on a collab stream, because it's too much of an akward downer issue for where entertainment should be the focus. The best I can hope for is that Kiara clears this up with her privately behind the scenes, and that Vei simply never badmouths Hololive publicly ever again.
That's the most likely course of action, shouldn't be so difficult, especially after seeing how much of a big success EN has become, you didn't hear anything negative from VShojo towards them ever again (to be fair, it was just Vei anyways, to my knowledge), instead it was all just smiles, hugs and compliments since. (Again, if you're cynical about this, it's easy to see this as just a calculated move by Vshojo to hold open collab opportunites to leech, and not incur the wrath of the massive Holo fanbase, and nothing more sincere. Or we're just too cynical, and they really honestly do like the Holo girls, whatever).
Also, to counterargue my own doomposting, in a controlled setting that demands it the Vshojo girls have already demonstrated that they can indeed dial down their peepeepoopoo schtick and stay almost respectable for an hour or so, as I watched their Amogus collab with Kizuna Ai and Nijis, and they didn't embarrass themselves too much there. So if the dreaded first collab indeed ends up just being that Kiara, Vei & Co. appear together on a panel at that german digital anime convention, to talk about being a vtuber or whatever, it's enough of a controlled setting that it shouldn't go TOO wrong. Other shit may develop from that afterwards of course, but I'll save the doomposting until it happens then.
>>3800648Oh yeah, let me get in on the Country Roads hate too (since I don't really want to belabor the Vshojo timeloop too much).
It really boggles the mind how badly this company-issued cover was bungled.
First of all, whose genus idea was it that their first group song together would be fucking Country roads in the first place? I can't imagine this coming from any of the girls themselves. Yeah I know, Gura has a connection to the song, but (which brings me to my next point), even she probably wouldn't suggest such a shitty kind of electro/pop arrangement too, instead of a more traditional country style. And as per usual by now, the mixing was shit and the voices compressed into autotuned garbage. And a months long waiting period, waiting for the copyright to clear, gee, couldn't you have got that in order BEFORE you decided on this particular song to cover in the first place? And they didn't even use that downtime productively for better retakes instead of just keeping the ones from a period where the members had shit mics and/or were inexperienced, and thought "yep, sounds good enough to us!".
Like, even if Kiara's own songs by itself are not my absolute favorites, I can at least appreciate that it's miles better that she takes the initiative and produces what she wants on her own instead of just waiting for what Cover gives out if THIS is what they provide.
The worst part is, we know it didn't have to be that way, because we've already seen from other Holos (mainly JP) that Cover (or they) can come up with GOOD group songs (both covers and originals).
I just hope that, as some have already alluded to, the EN girls take a more involved role in the production of their next song. Ideally it should be an original, instead of cheaping out and going for just a cover (though, is it really cheaper, paying the licencing fees for a cover instead of paying a composer for a wholly original song?), so they can arrange it to fit their own vocal styles and genre preferences, and make a song they can all be proud to present. A group song should be a landmark achievement and cause for celebration, something you can look back to fondly, instead of this shitshow which probably ended up being a rather demotivating embarassment for them (see how quickly they've been downplaying it, and how they want to forget it and never gonna mention it again), which is a real shame.
