>>38028417>its that theyre women who aren't gamers.Nothing wrong with that. In fact I'd argue that's a root cause of the problem. OK, you don't like videogames, so why play them? Why don't you stream any of the million other ways to pass the time? And I think that's part of the problem, you look at some JP vtubers - think of Marine. She's the kind of person who could strike up a three-hour conversation even if you put them in an empty room with four blank walls. That's a skill! But OK, vtubers don't have to always be skilled conversationalists, just... be into something other than yourself. Fucking anything. Jigsaw puzzles, card pack openings, cooking, karaoke, board games, tarot cards, whatever. Anything. There's an indie who does /diy/ videos with AR, the sky is the limit with this medium, there's really no excuse to do things you don't enjoy.
What's worse is that I feel like sometimes vtubers almost stumble into figuring this out, only to draw what looks like entirely the wrong conclusion from it. Like NijiEN running the handcam meta into the fucking ground because handcams were a 'buff', when the real buff was that they were doing something for their audience besides commentating on videogames poorly.
