When you address someone with very rudimentary English in full-on normal talking, like Gura did in that Among Us collab, it just goes in one ear out the other. You've got to focus on individual words and crawl along until they recognize something, which was easy enough with Mel and Roboco (and Aqua) because you know there's no alternative. With Haachama though, on seeing how she does on English tests and such she actually does understand a fair bit, so it's a weird in-between state in trying to figure out how to talk to her.
