Remember the "superstraight" meme? Whether it's real or not and whether it was just a mean to piss them off is a different case, but my point is most of the responses were "they're trying to eat the cake and have the cake". They just want to be viewed as queer without actually being queer. TBDesu I don't have a problem with Aces, it's perfectly logical to me that some people just genuinely don't have a sex drive and it's not up to me to judge if it's an illness or not, but that's where the fun part starts - you're getting more and more people who label themselves as asexual and will claim that they can still be kinky or have preferences or actually willing to have sex and take pleasure in it. The cope will be "Oh I just don't want to have sex in general but sometimes I feel like I should" and so on. All those 14 year old girls will just say that they're ace because it's the safest option and you cannot prove that they aren't asexual. Basically speaking, they WANT to be considered a minority and want to be considered oppressed.
And now we're taking one step back. What's the difference between bisexuals and pansexuals? The answers range from "none" to "whether you accept gender binarism or not, thus whether you include transgenders, non-binaries and so on".
And another step back. Biphobia was real. It wasn't a rare sight to see a gay or a lesbian despise bisexuals because it was a common thing to say that "you can't have both" or "they're just pretending and they're actually straight" and then there was a whole debate if you're truly bi if you actually have a preference for feminity or masculinity.
TL;DR Asexuals are the newest gatekept letter because of how dilluted their population is and how it's cool and trendy to be a letter.
