Once you grow up and stop thinking you're gonna be an astronaut or billionaire rock star, the chance of a relatively cushy job like vtubing starts sounding not so bad, especially if the alternative is wagecucking from 9-5 every day. Most zoomers don't realize this, because they have yet to experience significant hardship yet.
Also some of them have had to cultivate a personality due to fading looks IRL. You know why the entire concept of a "bimbo" exists in the first place? Because superficially very attractive people normally don't have to put even a tenth of the effort of a normal person, and so they don't. Hags are like the opposite of that. (Except they can be pretty regardless of how they look IRL in this industry. One of the great advantages of vtubing.)
Finally, they usually have enough people experience to understand what will rile fans up and not. They're better communicators because they know how to talk in a professional, diplomatic way to their audience. "Owning the haters" is juvenile, and hags understand that better than the average twitter-educated teenager.
Obviously this all depends on the individual (there are definitely a lot of retarded hags too), but it's basically just down to mental maturity and life experience. Most men would be hagchads IRL if women retained their youthful looks forever.
