Honestly from all my life experiences even outside of Vtubing, it must just be due to the culture that Japanese people grow up with instilling an idea that they have to work hard. Surely there are some who are just lazy as fuck like everywhere else in the world, but the staggering majority work way harder than people from the west at least.

Koyori's sub growth relative to her hours streamed has always been shockingly low. Even Subaru who got 1 mil in mid 2021 with reddit duck meme and peko numbers lately has barely gained much in the 1.5 years since. Is hard work just 20% of it where timing and memes/design makes up for the rest? Is koyo's voice a major filter? Was JP6 culled a little bit?

You fail to understand diminishing returns.
Streaming 8 hours in one day is so much worse than doing 2 hours on 4 separate days. Doing 8 hours on 4 days is also not much better than only doing 2 each.

JP6 just came after the explosive growth period. They did well out of the gate because Hololive has a large fanbase, but whether it is a youtube algorithm thing or just less new audience churn overall, sub numbers have dried up for pretty much everyone.
