“Look, these allegations, th-they’re completely just bullshit, I am not a rapist. I have never been a rapist, because I have never committed a rape,” you awkwardly mutter out to the person sitting across from you.
“Settle down now, alright? I’m not the one who needs to be convinced of your innocence; that dubious honor goes out to the lucky members of the jury.”
You nod, shakily. “Okay, okay. But you can fix this, right?”
“Fix this? What do you think I am? A plumber?” She quips.
You sit there in silence, unsure how to reply to her.
“Come on, wipe that sour look off your face. Lighten up, you said you were innocent.” She turns to look at your nervous expression, quickly backtracking in response. “Don’t worry about it. I promise you that I’ll give you the best legal representation I can, okay?”
“T-Thank you,” you respond timidly.
“Anyways, why don’t you tell me about the broad who filed the complaint?”
“Well, you see, she–her name’s… it’s…” You pause for just a moment, taking in a very deep breath. “...Kiryu Coco.”
“Kiryu Coco? As in the Kiryus?”
“Kiryu as in I’m fucked…”
She sighs, taking a sip of coffee from her mug. “Why don’t you tell me about it?”
“Well, I don’t know where to begin,” you say, scratching your head.
“Just start off with your relationship with her, then.”
“Alright. We never really interacted or talked too much, outside of you know, saying ‘hi’ and all that.”
“So how’d you know her?” She inquired.
“Well, I was co-workers with a friend of hers, so I’ve run into her a few times.”
“That’s it?”
“Yeah, I guess that’s it.”
“I don’t know why you’re so worked up about this, then.” She chuckles, taking another sip of coffee. “Sure, the Kiryu name might be pretty big around these parts, but they aren’t mob bosses or anything, right? Just back up your story, and you should be golden.”
You nod timidly.
“Of course, there’s still a few things we need to iron out before the trial. But you should be fine. I’ll just leave your number with my assistant, and we’ll be in touch.”
“Thank you again, Ms. Watson.”
“There’s no need for formalities here, Anon. Just call me Ame. Alright?”
“Well, thank you for your help, Ame.”
