Root beer is a thing there but its relatively unpopular due to the sarsaparilla flavor that's also prevalent in a lot of their medicines, from what I recall

Better than blue cream soda. Somebody hands you a blue drink which 99.9% of the time is delicious regardless of the flavor but then you're hit with vanilla when you're expecting almost anything else.

Actually my bad it IS called Cream Soda traditionally but you'll find it called Melon Cream Soda in a lot of places in Japan

You can make a float with anything. Regular Coke is popular, but stuff like Orange Crush or Tahitian treat are great too. I've even had one with Sprite and it's not as bad as it sounds on paper.

I didn't know that, but it makes tons of sense. I can't drink/eat anything bubblegum flavor that's not actual bubblegum thanks to Pepto, children's aspirin, and various other medicines.

I had plenty of canned Melon-cream soda when I was stationed on Oki, never got to do the real thing though. The Japanese really like melon-flavored stuff

I actually ordered that too. But I guess it wasn't mixed well because drinking from the bottom isn't all that sweet because of matcha and the top is just loaded with whipped cream and chocolate sauce so that's pretty sweet.
