What is the actual demographic of hololive fans? I turned 18 3 days ago but when I browse vt I often see anons calling people zoomers so I got surprised at the number of millenials actually watching this shi

It's the impression I get from Vtubing gaining momentum since 2016. Streaming and online social interaction has been around for much longer, but I feel like Vtubing is a new enough phenomenon where it's harder for old people to understand. There's a lot of "boomer" millennials who watch vtubers tho, especially on 4chan. Boomer millennials tend to be in their 30s but they're "old" mostly because they stopped making an effort to keep abreast with cultural trends, then act embittered/jaded about new trends because it's "different", in turn deriding those they see as perpetuating them, in this case "zoomers" (though generally they're specifically talking about 18 year olds)

Like zoomers is basically just a byword for anyone who is operating in the current zeitgeist, in some ways, more than anything else and honestly, it's dumb as fuck.

Like, as you say, you'd think with how disparaging the rhetoric is sometimes, that people talking about zoomers were your parents age but no, they're probably only like 5 years older than you.

Im in my mid 30's and I have had friends die, long term relationships fall apart, lost jobs and other assorted problems. People commonly carry hobbies from late teenage/young adults years well into their life, so I suspect a lot of millenials and gen x who were around streaming when it was blowing up around '09-'10 and onward will continue to enjoy it as a hobby well into their years. Comparable to their parents who many grew up always having national news on the television in the evening and now spend nights following national news on CNN/FOX/etc. I bet many gen Z will use Tiktok or a short form video app that replaces it into their 60s

Vtubers have actually helped me personally, they inspire me because a lot of them are losers too and they're making bank entertaining and relating to like-minded people. To any zoomers here, PLEASE don't put things off. Do things you hate but you know will help you in the long run. Take care of your health. That's all I can say. Don't know about EN but I think most HoloJP fans are on the 25 and above age group. I'm about to hit 30 and I only watch Korone. There are some exceptions (La+ and Pekora fans are younger on average), but for me Vtubers are just a natural extension of my hobbies (eroge, anime/manga).
I'm more surprised that some people on this board aren't weebs at all but still watch Hololive. I think there was a Marine fan who has never watched beyond entry level anime and has no interest in manga, despite most of Marine's zatsudan centering around otaku stuff and ancient NND references.
