Sunk cost fallacy. Since Hololive lost its reputation and prestige with males they're trying to replace the existing Western (and worldwide male English speaking audience) with Chinese and other fujoshi. Whether or not this works is a big question since they're up against Nijisanji, who was once the lesser company due to males, but they were in the male game since the start. The only certain result is the further alienation of people like me, who were once Myth fanatics and then slowly but surely got sidelined and shat on, be it by Mori or Ame, or the pestilent existence of Tempus. I never got into Council. I now only watch Gura and hold girls like Kiara and Fauna in respect, but I'm completely disinterested in Hololive as a whole. They squandered and lost all good will, all patience, respect, loyalty, everything. I'm utterly disgusted by HoloEN's management, Yagoo's perpetual shilling of males, Ame, Kroni, Mori... the whole structure of Hololive just imploded and they themselves destroyed it. At this point I don't care if they (try) to shit on me again with more males because I don't see myself as their fan anymore. I'm just watching this grotesque spectacle of incompetence and insults from the sidelines as one might watch a car crash or some homeless lunatic doing homeless lunatic things.
This is the important bit - if you're a girl who is applying for HoloEN, just don't. Look at how demoralized and absent most of Myth is. Beneath the (probable) health reasons and other causes of absences it's clear they're all sad, miserable and turned off from streaming. HoloEN betrayed them. The management did not listen to them, cared about their vision, and in the case of Gura sabotaged the fuck out of her at every turn. If you're a girl I'm willing to bet my cock you felt this instinctively since women are good at that. HoloEN is rotten from the inside and it's not getting better, and the girls who are now stuck there in a "damned if you do damned if you don't" situation don't know what the fuck to do anymore. It's a mouse trap, and one they never saw coming. Gura and Kiara are CGDCT fans and that's why they're there, and HoloEN smeared shit on their idealism. Kiara is experienced in the industry and could deal with the stab in the back, but I think Tempus utterly destroyed Gura's starry eyed ideas and demoralized her completely. She saw girls she thought were sharing her ideal and were there because of that ideal just straight up betray it at a drop of a hat. You don't just shrug that off. The issue is there's not much they can do. Gura, Kiara, Fauna... they can theoretically leave and join a small corpo and take a chunk of their fans with them under a new model, but the economic situation in the world is so fucked this is a frightening prospect. And since everyone STILL thinks of Hololive as "the top" (IT IS NOT. KILL THIS FAULTY IDEA) going "down" can appear as defeat to them. It is not. It would liberate their creative energies. But I understand their fear, indecisiveness and sadness.
If you're a 1view, 2view or even a 3view indie or small corpo chuuba, my advice to you is to join one of these - Phase Connect, kawaii or Idol Corp. If in the future Hololive gets its shit together (unlikely) you can "go upward," or a new big corpo might appear. But by staying in the trenches and sticking to your guns you can both learn, earn and help actual vtubing to grow. There is no prestige associated with Hololive or Nijisanji anymore. There also won't be a big chungus anymore. Vtubing will be composed of smaller corpos of roughly equal size all coexisting and having their draw based on THE TALENTS (you) and how much your personality appeals to this or that guy. Fully natural, fully authentic. (you) might peak at 1k CCV, but those 1K guys will be your hardcore fans who'll carry your ass to the finish line. I see it with Pippa, I see it with Lumi, and I am beginning to see it with Yuko. Don't get fooled by inflated numbers. HoloEN will experience a total collapse and it'll be "sudden," but all of us blessed with male autism and interests in history and politics and other stuff girls don't care about see this clearly. There's nothing new under the sun. A huge chunk of the fanbase is still operating under the mentioned sunk cost fallacy. And that is an untenable situation. It's a bubble. It'll pop. Be smart.
