One of my earliest memories of him was after he didn't go to the doctor despite not being able to shit for well over a week, and his belly (in retelling by family) was visibly distended. By the time he was talked into it, he was in the first stages of sepsis and they had to pump his stomach as well as do work on his anus to fix the source of the problem.
Literally almost died from his own shit, but didn't want to go to the doctor.
